NFL Week 17: San Francisco 49ers vs. Washington Commanders betting picks, preview

The San Francisco 49ers lost last week and will look to get back on track against the Washington Commanders. This projected lopsided affair offers us some solid betting value on Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Washington Commanders: Betting Odds

Spread: San Francisco -12.5, Over/under: 50 points, San Francisco -750 | Washington +525

San Francisco fell to Baltimore at home on Christmas evening to drop to 11-4, and the Niners' injury report is starting to pile up with players like Trent Williams, Brock Purdy and Deebo Samuel joining defensive players like Arik Armstead and Javon Hargrave. We'll have to wait and see on some of these players' playing status, but it does seem they'll have more than not on Sunday.

Washington sits at 4-11 and has been truly dreadful this season, headlined by a secondary that has allowed the second-most yards per pass attempt and passing yards per game. Each week, a different QB carves up this defense, and now this loaded group of 49ers figures to be next.

The 49ers are are 8-7 ATS this season and 8-6-1 to the over. The Commanders are 6-8-1 ATS and 9-6 to the over.

Betting Picks for San Francisco vs. Washington

49ers -12.5

We're very confident in San Francisco righting the ship here and pummeling the Commanders, even with some injuries sneaking in. It cannot be overstated just how bad this Washington defense is.

Their secondary gets torched every week with explosive plays, and now their run defense is showing an inability to slow down running backs from efficient runs. The 49ers loaded offense should have their way with this defense and control things from start to finish.

There also just seems to be some obvious tanking at play here for the Commanders, who are inexplicably still letting Ron Rivera run the show despite some egregious clock management and decision making. Sam Howell keeps getting benched due to poor play. This team is just a mess.

The Super Bowl favorite 49ers have shown that they will blow out inferior teams, and that's the exact situation we have here. Take San Francisco -12.5 with confidence.
