NFL Week 3: Los Angeles Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings betting picks, preview

Both of these teams have been competitive in their first two games, but both are also still looking for their first win. There is going to be a lot of heat on whoever doesn't get a victory this week and thus a lot of pressure throughout the contest. The offenses are ahead of the defenses in both cases so if it is a nail-biter it should be an exciting one.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings Betting Trends and Odds

Sunday, September 24, 2023 - 1 p.m. ET

Odds: Minnesota -1, Over/under 54, Los Angeles -108 | Minnesota -112

Per the intro, there is definitely desperation for both teams for this game. The Chargers were definitely the higher-rated team coming into the season and the meager spread on the road is telling us that is still the case. Games are won on the field though and when you are desperate, it might be better to be at home (or worse). At basically a pick'em there is room for this one to move either way.

Picks for Los Angeles vs. Minnesota

Over 54, Jordan Addison Over 75 Yards +235

From the games we have seen so far, the offenses look like the strengths of these teams and both quarterbacks are capable of playing well in catch-up mode. Normally, I am drawn to a side in pick'em games, but I have no feel for what either of these teams are right now. Los Angeles has a shown penchant for squandering leads and Minnesota seems to never give up. They are at home too and even though this is just Week 3, there is so much at stake for both teams. The last team with the ball probably wins something like 31-27 or 38-35. This will not be a 20-17 game.

Addison was a first-round pick in the Spring and with a couple of TDs already you can see why. Justin Jefferson is amazing and commands a lot of attention but sometimes the ball goes elsewhere so against a leaky defense Addison can turn his opportunities into a big game, especially in a high-scoring contest.

Totals are harder to predict than spreads. This one could go up but is unlikely to go down.
