NFL Week 7: Los Angeles Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs betting picks, preview

Instead of the Chargers pushing the Chiefs in the AFC West this season, it looks like the gap has only widened as Kansas City proves it can win ugly. The only blemish for Kansas City was that opening loss to Detroit, although they have not looked dominant this season (they are 5-1). This game is pretty much a must-win for the Chargers; K.C. is a tough place to do it though.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs Betting Trends and Odds

Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023 - 4:25 p.m. ET

Odds: Kansas City -5.5, Over/under 48, Los Angeles +205 | Kansas City -250

Coming into the season I think this one was expected to be more of a game, now it might be the final nail in the coffin for the coach of the Chargers, or give him and the team new life?  It is hard to say. What we do know is this is this is currently a dead number so I would not be surprised to see if move up and down as Sunday approaches.

Picks for Los Angeles vs. Kansas City

Over 48, Rashee Rice TD Scorer +240

Ever since WR Tyreek Hill was traded, the KC offense has been different, how could it not be? They have not been in the best of form this season, but playing a very light Chargers defense should help get things going. Last season, these teams played an over and an under with the winning team never scoring less than 27 points. Going back over the last five games the winning team has scored at least 30 points four times. These teams have offensive talent and the less than elite defenses tend to let it shine. Plus if you are going to have quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes vs. Justin Herbert it is probably best to err on the side of offense.

Rice has quickly become Mahomes favorite target at the receiver position. The rookie is second on the team in catches, yards, and TDs behind Travis Kelce. The TE always gets a lot of attention and that should help Rice find the end zone in this one. At this price, it is a great bet.

The early action and money are coming in on the Chargers, so we might see this one get down into the 4s. Since I am recommending the over I am not going to watch it all that intently. The early action is on the under so maybe that number comes down a little and helps us out.
