NFL Week 8 recap: Last week's lessons are this week's winners

Week 8 of the NFL season is nearly complete, and the same trends from earlier in the season remain just about the same. The under continues to dominate, the Eagles are still undefeated — had a bye this week — and the Packers and Buccaneers continue to struggle. 

However, did that one perfect team against the spread finally fail to cover? You'll have to read to find out.

Unders hit again

The under went 7-6 on Sunday, and are now 64-43 on the season. The under has yet to finish under .500 in any week so far this season, and is hitting just under 60% of the time, the best since 1994.

Falcons no longer perfect against the spread

Cincinnati ended Atlanta's perfect season ... well, sort of. Atlanta entered Sunday's game 6-0 against the spread, but the Falcons failed to cover the spread for the first time this season after losing to the Bengals, 35-17. The Falcons entered Sunday's game as 6.5-point underdogs.

Titans and Seahawks win, take sole possession of first place

Both the Titans and Seahawks lead their respective divisions after winning on Sunday. Tennessee won its fourth straight game and lead the AFC South after defeating Indianapolis, 19-10, on Sunday, while Seattle leads the NFC West by a game after beating the Los Angeles Chargers, 37-23. Tennessee is currently -110 to win the AFC South and Seattle is +500 to win the NFC West.

Two touchdown parlays hit big

One bettor won over $7,000.00 on a three-leg multi-touchdown parlay while another bettor won over $900.00 on a six-leg touchdown parlay. The three-leg multi-touchdown parlay had +30100 odds while the six-leg touchdown parlay had +18755 odds. 

Heading into Week 8

After a two-week hiatus, the NFL resumes its international series next week in London with Denver facing off against Jacksonville. There have been two international games so far this season, and both games have been won by the designated "road" team. 

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers might be two of the best quarterbacks of all time, but after Tampa Bay and Green Bay lost on Sunday, both are on teams that are currently under .500. It's the first time Brady has been under .500 after seven games since 2002, and it's the first time Rodgers and the Packers have lost three straight games since 2018. If Tampa Bay losses to Baltimore on Thursday, it'll be the first time Brady has ever been under .500 after eight games, and if Rodgers and Packers lose next week to Buffalo, it'll be the first time the future hall of famer has lost four consecutive games since 2016.

It's no longer a fluke, the New York teams are legitimately good at football. The Giants have won four straight and are 6-1 after beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, 23-17, on Sunday, and the Jets have won four straight and are 5-2 after defeating the Denver Broncos, 16-9 on Sunday.
