NFL Week 9: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Miami Dolphins betting picks, preview

Guten tag! The Week 9 Sunday NFL slate kicks off bright and early with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Miami Dolphins at 9:30 a.m. ET from Frankfurt, and we can't wait to watch this clash of the titans.

Let's break down the high-powered matchup and bank some euros with our best bets for Chiefs-Dolphins.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Miami Dolphins betting odds and preview

Spread: Chiefs -1.5, Over/under: 50.5, Moneyline: Chiefs -124 | Dolphins +110

Most international NFL games feature mediocre-at-best matchups, but that's not the case this week. The 6-2 Chiefs are currently the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but the 6-2 Dolphins can jump them with a win in Germany.

Miami is the highest-scoring team in the NFL through eight weeks, but its gaudy offensive statistics may be skewed by the schedule so far. The Dolphins are 6-0 against the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots (twice), Denver Broncos, New York Giants and Carolina Panthers while averaging 39.0 points per game. However, they're 0-2 against the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles while averaging only 18.5 points per game.

The Chiefs rank second in the NFL in points allowed per game, so Sunday will go a long way in determining how real this Dolphins offense is.

On the other side of the ball, Kansas City failed to score a touchdown last week for the first time under Patrick Mahomes. The passing offense hasn't been impressive outside of Travis Kelce, but that could change this week against a Miami defense that's been vulnerable to the deep ball.

Chiefs vs. Dolphins betting picks

Chiefs moneyline (-124 FanDuel)

This spread opened closer to Chiefs -3, but it's slowly starting to creep down as the week goes on. Part of the reason for the line move is that the Dolphins chose to get ahead of the time difference and fly to Germany on Tuesday, whereas the Chiefs didn't arrive until Friday morning.

Adjusting to the time difference and jet lag is a key factor in these international games, sure, but it's also creating a rare, valuable price on Mahomes. We learned this in the Super Bowl last season, didn't we? If Mahomes is ever an underdog or a short favorite in a game, you take it with no questions asked.

The Dolphins have yet to prove they can hang with the top teams in the NFL, so that makes this cheap ML bet even more appealing.

Dolphins team total under 24.5 (-116 FanDuel)

We mentioned it above, but the Dolphins have struggled to score against the two best defensive units they've faced this season. Miami scored only four offensive touchdowns combined against the Bills and Eagles, and the Chiefs have a better defense than both.

Kansas City hasn't given up more than 24 points all season, and although this is the best offense they've faced so far, we trust this unit to keep an overrated offense under 24.5.
