Big Ben's big beard shocked NFL nation. Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wanted to do his part to raise awareness for COVID-19 and the importance of social distancing and staying at home. The moment the NFL world saw his beard, though, fans couldn’t help but be captured by its pure, glorious form.

Roethlisberger vowed after undergoing season-ending elbow surgery early in 2019 that he wouldn’t shave his beard until he could play again. Ever since, the 38-year-old quarterback’s beard has become beloved by NFL fans with everyone wanting to see its latest form whenever he goes out in public.

He continues to make progress in his recovery from elbow surgery, feeling even better than in years past when he throws. After spending months recovering and rehabilitating his arm, Roethlisberger brought joy to the football world on Friday by putting his incredible beard on display once more.

Roethlisberger’s message to everyone about staying indoors felt even more powerful, given he looks like he hasn’t left his house in years. As you might expect, the NFL world lit up with joy, laughter and shock when they saw Roethlisberger’s magnificent look appear on Twitter. Just make sure you follow Roethlisberger’s words of wisdom and stay inside, we can all only hope we grow a beard that’s a fraction as good as this one.
