The Green Bay Packers lost both of their starting safeties in free agency, but they replaced one half of the duo with Xavier McKinney, who was probably the best safety on the market his offseason.

However, the Packers have yet to do anything about the other spot, which is currently being occupied by 2023 seventh-round pick Anthony Johnson Jr.

Green Bay probably does not want Johnson starting next season, so it may want to examine its options between now and Week 1.

Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton thinks the Packers should swing big, suggesting they trade for Arizona Cardinals superstar Budda Baker.

Moton thinks Green Bay should be able to acquire Baker for a late-round draft pick given the fact that safeties don’t typically go for much these days.

Plus, Baker is entering the final year of his deal, and with the Cardinals looking like a rebuilding franchise at the moment, Baker may not fit the team’s timeline moving forward.

Baker is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played 12 games and registered 87 tackles en route to his fifth straight Pro Bowl appearance.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Washington, was selected by Arizona in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

It didn’t take long for Baker to establish himself as one of the league’s top defensive backs, as he made the Pro Bowl and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection in his rookie campaign.

Baker notched another First-Team All-Pro nod in 2020 after racking up 118 tackles, a couple of sacks, a pair of interceptions, a forced fumble and six passes defended.

We’ll see if the Cardinals make Baker available and if the Packers jump at the chance to add him.
