NFLPA: Players haven't agreed to any reopening plan amid pandemic
Early Tuesday afternoon, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports generated excitement among NFL fans when he reported full-squad mini-camps could commence before the end of June amid the coronavirus pandemic.
All may want to temper their enthusiasm coming off the holiday weekend.
Cleveland Browns center and NFL Players Association President JC Tretter responded to Robinson's story and criticized the author's source via Twitter:
In April, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith confirmed the lack of a "force majeure" provision in the collective bargaining agreement regarding the cancellation of games because of a global pandemic.
While speaking with reporters last week, Tretter said there remains a "long list of hurdles" to clear before players can and will return to team facilities.
The 29-year-old Tretter said the coronavirus won't "kneel down to almighty football" and that players will need assurances they and their loved ones can remain as safe as possible if they begin the 2020 season on time this September.
The NFL and NFLPA must agree to terms for all parts of the process to start preparations for the campaign.
