NFLPA won't appeal disciplinary ruling on Deshaun Watson, asks NFL 'to do the same'

According to a report from CBS' Jonathan Jones on Sunday, a ruling on punishment for Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is expected to be handed down by retired judge Sue L. Robinson on Monday.

In light of this news, the NFLPA and Watson released a joint statement on Sunday night, vowing not to appeal the decision from judge Robinson while asking the NFL to do the same.

The NFLPA's statement reiterated that they "fully cooperated" with the league during the investigation before proclaiming their stance on a possible appeal and asking the NFL to "stand by" the ruling as well.

The NFL is reportedly in favor of an indefinite suspension for Watson.

Watson has been accused of sexual misconduct and assault surrounding visits to a number of massage therapists. In March, a second grand jury declined to indict Watson, and he has since settled 20 of 24 civil lawsuits against him.

The 26-year-old hasn't appeared in an NFL game since the 2020 season. Watson spent four seasons with the Houston Texans before being traded to the Browns on March 18. He then signed a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract with Cleveland.

Earlier this offseason, the Browns signed veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
