Nine-time Pro Bowl OT Jason Peters: 'Whenever the opportunity comes, I am going to give it one more run at it'
As NFL training camps get underway, legendary offensive tackle Jason Peters is still a free agent. Despite this, the 40-year-old nine-time Pro Bowler says that he isn't ready to hang up the cleats quite yet.
“Whenever the opportunity comes, I’m going to give it one more run at it and try to get me another ring, or pass on some knowledge to these young kids, up and coming,” Peters said on SiriusXM Radio, via Pro Football Talk. “But I don’t have a time frame on when I’m going to get signed. You know, last year, it was two-and-a-half weeks into training camp. So whenever the time comes, I’ll be ready.”
Following five seasons with the Buffalo Bills from 2004 to 2008 to start his career, and 12 years with the Philadelphia Eagles which included a Super Bowl title, Peters spent the 2021 campaign with the Chicago Bears. He played and started in 15 games with Chicago, helping along the line to protect an array of starting quarterbacks including Justin Fields, Andy Dalton and Nick Foles.
Not only has Peters earned nine Pro Bowl honors, but he's also a two-time First Team All-Pro and was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame All-2010s Team. With his 218 career games started, Peters ranks among the active leaders, trailing only Tom Brady (316) and Matt Ryan (222).
If the Arkansas product is able to land with one more NFL team, he'll also bring plenty of postseason experience, having suited up for six playoff contests during his run with the Eagles.
