No new COVID-19 cases among remaining NFL playoff teams

Things are looking good for the NFL hosting a pair of conference title games this Sunday as scheduled.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero tweeted on Wednesday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs have no new COVID-19 cases as of the halfway point of the week. All four teams are, thus, preparing as normal for Sunday's games that will determine which clubs will compete in Super Bowl LV held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 7.

The postseason wasn't entirely without coronavirus-related drama. The Cleveland Browns survived a legitimate COVID-19 crisis and even earned a playoff victory at the Pittsburgh Steelers before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. Packers offensive tackle Jared Veldheer started for the Indianapolis Colts on wild-card Saturday but then tested positive for the virus before he was set to play against the Los Angeles Rams the subsequent Saturday after latching on with the Packers. According to RotoWire Staff, Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur told reporters on Wednesday that Veldheer remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Veldheer's status for Sunday's contest versus Tampa Bay is up in the air.

Pelissero also confirmed that the Washington Football Team is dealing with positive COVID-19 cases that are linked with a gathering that occurred after Washington's loss to Tampa Bay on Jan. 9.
