New York Jets' head coach Robert Saleh delivered some feel-good news on a Friday.

The team's two starting cornerbacks have cleared concussion protocol and are expected to face the New York Giants in Week 8.  Both practicing in full on Wednesday and Thursday, Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed have successfully passed the final test in the NFL-mandated five-stage protocol.

"D.J. and Sauce have cleared concussion protocol, so they're good to go," said Saleh prior to Friday's practice in Florham Park.

As for starting right guard Joe Tippmann, Saleh ruled out the second-round rookie who left the Week 6 win over Philadelphia due to injury and did not return.

"Tippmann, he's still dealing with his quad. He's gonna be out," said Saleh.

After four consecutive starts on the right side of the line, Tippmann will likely give way to veteran backup Wes Schweitzer. Coming on in relief against the Eagles, the versatile veteran finished out the victory. Schweitzer, who was Washington's starting center last year, signed with the Jets this past March.

While short-handed on the offensive line, the Jets' secondary welcomes back one of the NFL's most-feared cornerback duo. Prior to Reed missing the Week 5 win in Denver, he and Gardner had made 21 consecutive starts opposite each other.

Both defenders were unavailable for the Week 6 home victory. Saleh seemed delighted to announce their return.

"It does allow flexibility on the defense. It allows you to do a couple of things that you normally wouldn't without those two guys," said Saleh.

Designated as the road team, the Jets will battle the Giants on October 29 at MetLife Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm ET.

Be sure to re-visit Jets Country on Friday evening for the full official injury reports heading into the weekend.
