At this juncture in the 2025 football season, Notre Dame is in a privileged position, allowing them to be highly selective when extending offers to high school recruits.

With 13 committed prospects already in their ranks, the Irish boast one of the most impressive early assemblies of talent in the current recruiting landscape.

Consequently, there is no immediate need to hastily extend offers to additional players. However, the coaching staff has identified a potential standout in Elijah Burress, a wide receiver hailing from New Jersey.

Standing at an impressive 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 170 pounds, Burress received an enticing scholarship offer from Notre Dame last Thursday.

Notably, Elijah Burress does not currently hold a ranking from major recruiting services, making him a relatively unknown prospect at this stage. Nonetheless, the Irish coaching staff saw something exceptional in his junior highlight reel, prompting them to make the offer.

One factor that likely played a significant role in this decision is Burress’s football pedigree. His father, Plaxico Burress, is a former standout player who graced the field at Michigan State and went on to be selected as the No. 8 overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.

Plaxico enjoyed a highly successful NFL career, further underscoring the family’s football legacy. Elijah Burress now joins the ranks of recruits who are the offspring of former NFL stars, adding an exciting dimension to Notre Dame’s recruiting efforts.
