Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't 'see the point' in playing before the playoffs

Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. isn't in any hurry to play ahead of the playoffs.

"I haven’t made the decision," Beckham responded when asked during Thursday's edition of "The Shop" about where he plans on playing next, as shared by Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "I would like to be in a stable environment. Get up 6 a.m., leave at 6 p.m. for four weeks and then let’s talk about it. I’ve played football for a long time. I’m not saying I couldn’t step in and play regular season, but I don’t see the point. I really don’t. I’d rather play when that pressure’s on."

Teams clearly aren't sold on Beckham's mindset at the moment.

Beckham recently met with the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Buffalo Bills but remains unsigned. The Cowboys are reportedly concerned about Beckham's recovery from the torn ACL he suffered in February after the 30-year-old underwent a physical with the organization.

Dallas supposedly thinks Beckham may not be ready to suit up "before mid-January" at the earliest, but he reportedly told Cowboys star pass-rusher Micah Parsons he'd be good to go "in five weeks." Such a timeline theoretically could have OBJ in a lineup for wild-card weekend at the latest.

A version of Beckham who is even 80% healthy could do damage as a third option for a championship contender during the playoffs. He tallied 27 receptions for 305 yards and five touchdowns in eight regular-season games with the Los Angeles Rams last season and then accumulated 21 catches for 288 yards and two scores during the postseason before he went down in Super Bowl LVI.

Recently, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio linked Beckham with the NFL-leading 11-1 Philadelphia Eagles.
