The season is over for Ohio State except for a bowl game. For college football, it is the season of moving on from coaches. Fellow Big Ten program Indiana moved on from their coach and now has a vacancy. Buckeyes assistant Justin Frye is one of the early candidates to take the job.

Ohio State Assistant Justin Frye To Indiana?

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman reported that Frye is one of the early frontrunners to take the job.  South Alabama’s Kane Wommack, Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy ReesMichigan’s Sherrone Moore are others on the list. Frye makes a lot of sense and has a track record of success with the Buckeyes. He has coached many top draft picks including Paris Johnson Jr., Dawand Jones, and Luke Wypler. The Buckeyes are consistently at the top of the Big Ten and Frye is a big reason for that.

Good Opportunity

Indiana seems to be attracting some big names. The Big Ten is going to look a lot different next year with USC, Washington, Oregon, and UCLA being added to the mix. This will mean more high-profile matchups and more opportunities for program-changing wins. The Hoosiers showed some promise a couple of years ago but have not been able to recapture that success. Whoever takes the job will have plenty of opportunities to build the program how they want it.

There are likely to be more head coaching positions open in the coming weeks. As seasons begin to end and teams look to make changes, other programs may see vacancies as well.
