A short time ago, wide receivers Kelvin Harmon and Antonio Gandy-Golden were expected to be part of a young promising pass catching trio for the Washington Football Team. With Terry McLaurin solidified, Harmon and Gandy-Golden were supposed to be his complements.

Now the two will try to continue their NFL journeys on reserved/future contracts. Washington announced earlier this week the signing of eight players to future deals, including Harmon and Gandy-Golden.

Harmon was a sixth-round draft pick in 2019 for Washington. Gandy-Golden was a fourth-rounder in 2020.

Harmon flashed his potential with 30 catches for 365 yards as a rookie. However, he suffered a torn ACL during an offseason workout, knocking him out for the 2020 season.

Gandy-Golden was slowed his rookie season with development and a hamstring injury that limited him to six games and one catch.

Both Harmon and Gandy-Golden failed to make the 53-man roster and were released ahead of the 2021 season. The two spent time on Washington’s practice squad. Harmon was cut in October. Gandy-Golden managed to play in four games this season. But he played a mere 20 offensive snaps and did not record a catch.

Now they’ll head into OTAs, mini-camp and training camp looking to prove themselves at a chance to make the 53-man roster.

Washington’s other futures contract signings include guard Zack Bailey, center/guard Beau Benzschawel, guards Deion Calhoun and Nolan Laufenberg, defensive tackle Tyler Clark and wide receiver Marken Michel.
