Owner Jerry Jones: DC Dan Quinn staying with Cowboys 'for years to come'

After the Dallas Cowboys lost to the visiting San Francisco 49ers in the NFC wild-card round earlier this month, head coach Mike McCarthy said he didn't " have any concerns" over his future with the organization, and reports on Thursday seemed to back up McCarthy's confidence.

One of the head coach's closest assistants — defensive coordinator Dan Quinn — meanwhile, told teams that despite the major interest this offseason in his services as a possible head coach, he's staying put in Dallas . On Friday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seemed to further cement both McCarthy's and Quinn's statuses with the franchise.

Jones also said there was a strategy involved last week when he declined to confirm that the head coach would return, noting that it was part of a plan to get Quinn to stick around. The 79-year-old added that he believes Quinn turned down a lead gig for another team to remain Dallas' defensive coordinator.

As far as offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Jones also feels good about the chances of the former Cowboys quarterback running it back in 2022, saying, "I believe he'll be back next year."

Since winning its last Super Bowl in 1995, Dallas has been to the postseason 11 times in 26 seasons but has not advanced past the NFC divisional round.
