Packers, Aaron Rodgers close to agreement that lets QB leave after 2021 season?

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers indicated to people close to him that he will ultimately return to the Green Bay Packers for the 2021 season rather than try to force a trade this summer.

It appears Rodgers is planning his own version of "The Last Dance."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Packers are willing to help "set up Rodgers’ departure from Green Bay" following the upcoming season.

Ultimately, this is an agreement that benefits both parties. A Packers team that was one win away from facing the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV gets one of the best quarterbacks in the business back for at least one more season, and Rodgers could get a desired move to a team of his choice when the new NFL year opens next March.

2020 rookie Jordan Love will be on track to replace Rodgers as Green Bay's QB1 for the 2022 campaign unless Rodgers and the Packers mend their relationship before next winter.
