Packers' Aaron Rodgers responds to trade rumors

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers doesn't sound thrilled about being the subject of trade rumors ahead of Super Bowl LVII. 

"It sounds like there’s already conversations going on that aren’t involving me. That’s very interesting," Rodgers remarked during his Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," as shared by Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post. 

Rodgers insisted that he is "not a part of those conversations right now" and will let the world know when he decides about his playing future "one way or the other." 

Rodgers offered this latest update after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported over the weekend that "league sources believe (Green Bay) prefers to move on from Rodgers, just as it once did with Brett Favre." Schefter added that "sources also believe that Rodgers is well aware of the Packers' feelings on the situation." 

Rodgers was routinely linked in stories with the New York Jets earlier this month before they hired Nathaniel Hackett, Rodgers' former offensive coordinator in Green Bay, to be their new coordinator last week. 

On Tuesday, Rodgers said that "Hack is my guy" without confirming or denying Hackett's landing spot could impact the signal-caller's decision. 

"When you’ve played as long as I have you like to recap each week the things that happened," Rodgers explained. "You enjoy journaling and those things. I think it’s important to look at the tone of those things and where your mind is when you get away from it. You have to get away from the emotion of it. That’s why you can’t make a decision until after the Super Bowl at the earliest because there’s still football going on." 

Rodgers indicated he doesn't want to take figurative spotlights off the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles as they prepare to play in Super Bowl LVII. 

Last winter, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady announced what became a temporary retirement between the conference championship games and Super Bowl LVI.

For what it's worth, Jets cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner and running back Breece Hall hinted last week they'd happily welcome Rodgers to the organization. It sounds like Jets fans will have to wait until at least Feb. 13, the day after the Super Bowl, for such a trade to occur.
