Packers GM Brian Gutekunst: Team only got one Aaron Rodgers trade call

Reports on draft day stated the Green Bay Packers received multiple trade calls for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. General manager Brian Gutekunst denied those reports while speaking with Peter King of NBC Sports.

Gutekunst told King that he only received one trade call for Rodgers and shut down the conversation quickly.

"I had no [trade] discussions with any team. I received one call from a team Thursday night, after all the news came out. I said no. That was the end of the conversation," he said.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch has acknowledged that he called Green Bay about Rodgers. When Gutekunst said he wouldn't trade the reigning MVP, Lynch selected Trey Lance third overall.

Rodgers is unhappy with his situation in Green Bay and reportedly won't return to the franchise unless Gutekunst is fired. He confirmed the rift between himself and the Packers in an off-camera interview with NBC's Mike Tirico at the Kentucky Derby.

The Packers are adamant that the situation will be cleared up, but Rodgers could force his way out of Green Bay by skipping offseason workouts, training camp and even potentially retiring.
