Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander caused some ripples this season with his strange antics, which prompted many to project that the Packers would try to trade him during the offseason.

That will not be the case.

While addressing reporters on Thursday, Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst flatly said “no” when asked if the Packers would try to move Alexander in the coming months, via Mike Spofford of Green Bay’s official team website.

Alexander was suspended by the team for Week 17 after he took the field for the pregame coin toss in spite of not being a team captain the previous week.

It was hardly the first run-in the star defensive back had had with the Packers, but Gutekunst actually thinks Alexander rebounded well after the incident.

“Those things are difficult and those are tough,” Gutekunst said. “But at the end of the day, it allowed us all to reset. I’m really proud of the way Jaire responded to that. I really think that’s going to help us moving forward.”

Alexander was limited to just seven games this season due to injuries. During his time on the field, he logged 27 tackles, a forced fumble and five passes defended.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Louisville, was selected by Green Bay with the 18th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

When healthy, Alexander is one of the better cornerbacks in football, as evidenced by the fact that he has already made a couple of trips to the Pro Bowl.

We’ll see if Jaire Alexander makes any adjustments to his behavior heading into 2024.
