Packers head coach Matt LaFleur taking Aaron Rodgers holdout 'one day at a time'

In maybe the least surprising NFL development of the first half of June, disgruntled Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not appear for the start of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday amid reports the 37-year-old reigning NFL Most Valuable Player wishes to be traded.

Rodgers will likely forfeit a $500,000 bonus due to skipping organized team activities and other workouts, and he could be fined for each day he misses this week.

However, the Packers could ultimately elect to waive those penalties and excuse Rodgers' absences as general manager Brian Gutekunst and company hope their QB will return for at least one more season. According to Lily Zhao of Fox6 out of Milwaukee, head coach Matt LaFleur refused to comment on that matter when speaking with reporters Tuesday.

"We’re going to take it one day at a time and try to remedy the situation as best we can," LaFleur added about Rodgers' latest decision, per Zhao

LaFleur hasn't changed his stance or tone throughout the spring. He wants Rodgers back but has repeated he has no real update on the standoff between the future Hall of Famer and team management.

Gutekunst, meanwhile, has insisted he's not willing to trade Rodgers ahead of the upcoming campaign.
