Packers' Jordan Love improving while Aaron Rodgers is away?

Green Bay Packers quarterback and 2020 rookie Jordan Love saw zero regular-season snaps his debut year and, per comments made by general manager Brian Gutekunst earlier this spring, has "got a long way to go" before he'll be ready to replace future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.

Love and company may have to rush the process, though, as Rodgers is skipping organized team activities and probably won't show up for next week's mandatory minicamp amid reports he's unhappy with the organization and is willing to sit out through the start of the upcoming campaign or even retire if the Packers won't trade him.

On Thursday, Green Bay offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett noted improvements he's seen from Love during workouts, according to Grant Gordon of the NFL's website:

"I think it's just about being able to make the proper decisions, and understand it's timing and accuracy. And all those things have definitely been better up to this point. And I think just the more experience, the more reps you can get, it's going to help him, regardless of who's out there. It's just about coaching and understanding the concepts, different protections and the run game — there's so much for him to be able to learn that it's been great having him here and having the opportunity to help him out."

Rodgers has already forfeited a $500,000 workout bonus and could be fined $93,000 for missing minicamp. Meanwhile, Gutekunst has insisted he's not trading the 37-year-old before the regular season starts in September.
