The Green Bay Packers have been very quiet thus far this offseason. They haven’t been very active in free agency in large part because they are working on finding a resolution to their Aaron Rodgers situation. Rodgers has made it clear he no longer wants to be in Green Bay and plans to play in 2023 with the New York Jets.

The Packers aren’t going to just give him what he wants, as they want some real compensation in return from the Jets. However, the longer that drags on, the less time the team will have to address other needs on the roster.

The only signings that the Packers have made that weren’t their free agents were long-snapper Matt Orzech from the Los Angeles Rams and Tarvarius Moore, a safety from the San Francisco 49ers.

Most of the work that Green Bay has done has been reworking contracts and re-signing their own free agents. One of the players that they were able to re-sign was EDGE defender Justin Hollins. However, it did take some work.

According to Doug Rush, the New York Giants attempted to sign Hollins in free agency. Hollins met with Big Blue on Wednesday but opted against signing with them. Instead, he agreed to a one-year, $1.2 million deal to return to the Packers.

The 2019 fifth-round pick spent the first six games of the 2022 season with the Packers before finishing things out with the Los Angeles Rams. He was solid as a role player, picking up 3.5 sacks and 35 total tackles, picking up four tackles for loss and seven quarterback hits as well.

Teams can never have too many pass rushers and Hollins is a quality depth piece. The Packers were smart to bring him back and he could find a sizable role in their edge rotation until Rashan Gary can get back on the field following his ACL tear last season.
