Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love got his first career win in Week 1 of the 2023 regular season. Love and the Packers visited their oldest rival, the hated Chicago Bears, and came away with the 38-20 win. Love threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns while not throwing any interceptions.

After the game, Love received many congratulations from teammates and coaches, and deservedly so. On Monday, Brett Favre, the legendary Hall of Fame gunslinger who helped bring the Packers back to relevance, took to social media to offer his congratulations to Love as well.

Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Wishes Love a Long Career

The Packers organization and Favre have not always seen eye to eye. The well-documented tension between the two parties is very similar to what the team went through with Aaron Rodgers this past offseason.

But time heals all wounds, and Favre has remained a popular figure among many Packers fans. He has made numerous trips to Green Bay and, this past weekend, spent some time with the Gilbert Brown Foundation to help raise funds for children in need.

Having set the standard for quarterback play in the modern era of Green Bay football, few know better than Favre how important it is to get off to a good start. After Love’s performance against Chicago, Favre posted on X:

In Favre’s first career start, in Week 3 of the 1992 season against the Cincinnati Bengals, he completed 22 of 39 passes for 289 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Favre certainly had a long and successful career in Green Bay, and his first start stats are very similar to those of Love’s. Of course, comparing one game and drawing a conclusion is silly, but it is fun to think about the possibility that Love could be the third straight great quarterback in Green Bay.

For those wondering, the Packers went 9-5 in 1992 with Favre as the starter. Many remember that they went 6-10 with Aaron Rodgers in his first season as the starter.
