Packers offensive lineman reveals how team will miss Aaron Rodgers

Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins acknowledged that moving on from former quarterback Aaron Rodgers is a difficult transition because the locker room venerated the four-time league MVP.

"Just his presence in the locker room and the things he brings to the game, the experience all the stories he had to tell and all that. He's gonna be missed in our locker room, for sure," Jenkins said Monday on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football."

Nonetheless, he's excited about the potential of Rodgers' replacement, Jordan Love.

"So we know that he's a good player and just ready to go on Sunday whenever we play," Jenkins said of Love. "In OTAs, I've seen a lot of good things from Jordan, a lot of leadership — he stepped up as a leader a lot — so I'm very excited for his future and ready to play with him. "

Even though Rodgers is one of the best QBs in the franchise's storied history, trading him to the Jets was the right choice amid the quarterback's frustration with the Packers and a desire for change.

Per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Rodgers' agent, David Dunn, asked Green Bay to fire GM Brian Guntekust in 2021, and the 39-year-old QB said he felt "there was a possibility [the Packers] were going to move on" after they selected Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Now, the Packers will determine if Love is a franchise QB. It's hard to tell because the 24-year-old has only played in 10 games in three seasons, completing 60.2 percent of his passes, throwing three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Green Bay has successfully navigated through a QB change before. In 2008, Rodgers replaced Hall of Famer Brett Favre after dealing the latter to the Jets, ironically. Yet history doesn't always repeat itself, and it's still unclear if Love can have the same impact as Rodgers.
