Packers OL Elgton Jenkins 'ahead of schedule' in ACL recovery

Green Bay Packers fans have heard a lot of news about their team's offensive line recently.

Most of it has surrounded All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari. However, one of Green Bay's other offensive lineman, Elgton Jenkins, is one of the better offensive lineman in the game. He was a Pro Bowl guard in just his second season in 2020. The former Mississippi State star tore his ACL last November against the Minnesota Vikings. Now, Jenkins is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from that torn ACL, reports Yahoo's Brandon Carwile.

"Elgton is doing great," Packers general manger Brian Gutekunst said Wednesday. "We're excited. We'd like to get him back out there, hopefully, that will be soon. He's certainly ahead of schedule."

Jenkins is one of the more versatile offensive lineman in the game. He can play all five positions along the offensive line but is predominantly a guard. He tore his ACL after starting the first 10 games at left tackle last season for Bakhtiari, who was out for almost the entire season with his own ACL injury.

If Jenkins could make it back to game action before November, that could be a huge win for Green Bay. He is a big weapon in the trenches for Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur. Once he and Bakhtiari join the lineup, Green Bay's offensive line will be one of the premiere units in the entire league. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers shouldn't have to use his laundry machine too much if players like Jenkins and Bakhtiari are healthy and playing to their capabilities.
