Packers open as double-digit underdogs for first time in Aaron Rodgers' career

Going into Week 8, the Buffalo Bills will have the best record in the AFC at 5-1 and riding a three-game winning streak. The Green Bay Packers, meanwhile, are 3-4 and have lost three straight contests.

While Bills quarterback Josh Allen is an MVP candidate, back-to-back reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers of the Packers is having a rough go of it thus far this fall. The first half has been so tough for Rodgers and so good for Allen that Green Bay is opening this week as a double-digit underdog ahead of their Week 8 matchup against Buffalo for the first time in No. 12's career.

Earlier in October, another former MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs entered their Week 6 contest against the Bills as a home underdog for the first time in Mahomes' career. The Chiefs ended up losing that game, 24-20.

Through seven games, Rodgers has completed 66.8 percent of his passes for 1,597 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions, and while he's thrown for four touchdowns and 0 interceptions across the last three weeks, he's failed to surpass 250 passing yards in any of those games. In six contests meanwhile (the Bills had a Week 7 bye), Allen has a completion percentage of 66.9% completion percentage for 1,980 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and four interceptions, while adding 47 carries for 257 yards and two touchdowns as well.
