Packers QB Aaron Rodgers calls Soldier Field his ‘second home’

Aaron Rodgers’ ownership of the Chicago Bears has been well-documented over the years, but after Sunday’s 28-19 win at Soldier Field, the Green Bay Packers quarterback took another tongue-in-cheek shot at the Bears faithful.

During a post-game interview with NFL on Fox sideline reporter Kristina Pink, Rodgers explained why he saluted the crowd at Soldier Field after a successful two-point conversion, describing exactly why he enjoys playing in Chicago.

“You never know when it’s going to be your last one,” Rodgers said. “They’ve got great fans here in Chicago. But it truly has been a second home for me. Had a lot of big wins here over the years, a lot of great moments, with [Randall Cobb] and so many guys here over the years. So, it’s fun to come back here, get a win, and let the fans know I’m still here.”

Rodgers completed 18-of-31 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown on Sunday, leading Green Bay to 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

The 39-year-old QB is 25-5 in his career against the Bears, and 11-1 at Soldier Field including the playoffs. His only loss at the Chicago venue was a 24-17 defeat in Week 15 of 2018.

While the Packers have a 5-8 record, they’re still not technically eliminated from playoff contention just yet. Multiple reports indicate that Rodgers is expected to have a significant say on whether Green Bay will shut him down for the rest of the year in favor of Jordan Love, should the team no longer contend for a playoff spot.
