Packers QB Aaron Rodgers: 'I'm not going to miss any games' because of toe injury

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters Monday he did not "believe" starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers would be having surgery to repair the fractured pinky toe he dealt with across three November games, two of which Green Bay won to improve to 9-3 ahead of the bye and the upcoming "Sunday Night Football" showdown with the Chicago Bears. 

Rodgers offered an update on the setback during his Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show." 

"I did get some great information about my foot. There was nothing really revolutionary," Rodgers explained, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "There was no mindset change or anything. The biggest key is rest. I wish that there was another one of these [bye] weeks, so I could get 14 to 21 great days without doing anything. But the toe is improving and we’ll see how it feels later in the week."

The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player admitted he could go under the knife at some point before the playoffs if the injury worsens. 

"I think any decision that’s made would be one that allows me to play. I’m not going to miss any games," Rodgers remarked. "I’ve obviously played with much bigger injuries, different parts of my body. And although it’s a small pinky toe, it’s definitely painful and creates some issues. But I’m not going to miss any games because of it."

Rodgers sat out multiple practice sessions last month because of the toe, but that didn't keep him from producing three total touchdowns -- two throwing and one rushing -- in the 36-28 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 28. The future Hall of Famer, who celebrated his 38th birthday last week, suggested he could again skip practices this week. 

Kurt Benkert is on track to be Rodgers' backup versus Chicago after the Packers placed Jordan Love on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday. Love was one of 11 players league-wide who reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus following this past weekend.
