Packers RB Aaron Jones (calf) out vs. Vikings

The Green Bay Packers will be without their first-choice running back for the second straight week.

ESPN's Adam Schefter and others confirmed that Aaron Jones has been ruled out for Sunday's divisional game against the Minnesota Vikings because of the calf injury that made him a spectator for last Sunday's win over the Houston Texans.

As Josh Alper noted for Pro Football Talk, Jones tweaked the calf late last week and missed all midweek practice sessions leading up to the game against Minnesota. Without Jones, Jamaal Williams led the Packers with 77 rushing yards and a score against Houston.

Rookie AJ Dillon will again be second on the depth chart behind Williams.

Minnesota enters the weekend with the league's 29th-ranked defense, per ESPN stats, that is surrendering 127.0 rushing yards per game and 286.7 yards in the air. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, meanwhile, is a legitimate Most Valuable Player candidate this fall who completed 32-of-44 passes for 364 yards and four touchdowns in the season-opening win over the Vikings back on Sept. 13.

Jones won't have too long to get right before Green Bay's next game, as the Packers play at the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night. Green Bay then hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 15.
