Packers signing QB Jake Dolegala amid Aaron Rodgers' absence

The Green Bay Packers are adding a new name to their active quarterback room ahead of the weekend as reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers continues his holdout

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and ESPN's Rob Demovsky report that free agent Jake Dolegala has signed with the Packers after he worked out with the team during mandatory minicamp. He joins Rodgers, 2020 rookie Jordan Love, 2014 first-round pick Blake Bortles, and Kurt Benkert on the depth chart.

Dolegala, 24, entered the NFL when the Cincinnati Bengals signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2019. The product of the Central Connecticut Blue Devils also had a cup of coffee on the practice squad of the New England Patriots last season but, like the previously mentioned Love, has not yet thrown a pass in a regular-season NFL game.

Love is currently Green Bay's QB1 with Rodgers away and, as a result, is taking the bulk of snaps during practices ahead of Bortles and then Benkert. With Rodgers' status for summer training camp sessions still up in the air, head coach Matt LaFleur and company can only benefit from getting additional looks at other signal-callers.
