Packers to host QBs Chad Kelly, Kurt Benkert at rookie minicamp

The Green Bay Packers needed some live arms for this coming weekend's rookie minicamp with future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers disgruntled and away from the organization and 2020 rookie Jordan Love ineligible to participate. 

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero (h/t Kevin Patra) reported Monday that Green Bay will host quarterbacks Chad Kelly and Kurt Benkert on a tryout basis for rookie camp. According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, they are the only signal-callers the Packers will welcome in this weekend. 

Kelly was the last pick of the 2017 NFL Draft and hasn't thrown a pass in a regular-season game. The nephew of Hall of Famer Jim Kelly most recently spent time on the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts. 

Benkert, meanwhile, signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2018 but failed to find a long-term home on their active roster. The Falcons released him in February without ever seeing him record a stat in a regular-season game. 

The Packers did not select a QB in this year's draft or sign one among available undrafted free agents.
