Jayden Reed has been the best offensive weapon for the Green Bay Packers this year, leading the team in receiving yards even as a rookie. And he gave the team good news. Despite not practicing on Wednesday and Thursday because of a chest injury, he said it was just maintenance to fully recover.

Reed initially got hurt during the Los Angeles Chargers game two weeks ago. He was limited at practice last week, but ended up playing and producing well against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. In the locker room this Thursday, the rookie second-rounder said he didn't aggravate the injury, which is a good indication for his availability on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jayden Reed has been a productive and versatile weapon for the Packers offense. He's been targeted 59 times, with 36 receptions for 497 yards and five touchdowns. Beyond that, he's had seven rushing attempts for 81 yards and a touchdown. According to PFF, the rookie had three of his best four games over the last three weeks, which is in line with his bigger role inside the offense.

More offensive injury updates

Besides Jayden Reed, there is good news about another offensive player. Running back AJ Dillon, who hadn't practiced earlier this week because of a groin injury, returned to practice on Thursday. This is particularly important because Aaron Jones is not expected to be available on Sunday, still recovering from a MCL sprain.

The Packers have Patrick Taylor on the 53-man roster, plus James Robinson and Ellis Merriweather at running back on the practice squad.

Secondary help

The Packers defensive back group has had big injury problems over the last couple of games. Last week, none of the five preferred starters at the beginning of the season was available against the Lions. The story may be different versus the Chiefs.

Cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes, plus safeties Darnell Savage and Rudy Ford all practiced on Thursday. Stokes and Savage are still on injured reserve, but both have been designated to return and are in the 21-day practice window.

If they are healthy enough, they can be activated before Sunday. The Packers let two open roster spots, presumably with these moves in mind.
