A pair of former Alabama Crimson Tide players had some big praise for a former Tennessee Vols standout this weekend.

Former Vols edge rusher Derek Barnett has thrived since joining the Houston Texans in late November after getting released by the Philadelphia Eagles (Barnett, who was drafted by the Eagles, played for Philly from 2017 until his release in November).

Barnett finished the season with 2.5 sacks and 11 quarterback hits in just six games with the Texans.

The former Vol contributed a sack and a quarterback pressure that led to a pick-six on Saturday in the Texans' playoff win against the Cleveland Browns.

After the game, Texans rookie edge rusher Will Anderson, a former standout at Alabama, was asked about Barnett.

"He's solid, he'll just go out there and wreck anything," said Anderson. "He's been a great addition to our room. Very knowledgable, knows a lot about ball. When he steps on the field, you know he's out there. We're so appreciative to have him, he's been a great fit for all of us."

"He's been a dog, dominating every single time he gets in there," added former Alabama linebacker Christian Harris.

The Texans will either play the Kansas City Chiefs or the Baltimore Ravens in the next round of the playoffs -- depending on the outcome of the Buffalo Bills' matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. If the Steelers win, the Texans will travel to Kansas City. If the Bills win, Houston will take on the Ravens.
