Panthers' Bryce Young reveals what he learned from Tom Brady

Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young has addressed his recent much-publicized meeting with retired living legend Tom Brady.

"Yeah, there were a lot of gems, a lot of nuggets that I was able to take away," Young explained during a Monday news conference, as shared by Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "I was able to ask him some questions about his career, kind of his mindset going towards it. And for me, obviously being a young quarterback, I wanted to know things that he wishes he knew at this age, things that he felt like were key for him to have success. I think that’s something that’s pretty invaluable."

Brady spent time last week with Young and fellow rookies C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans, Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts and Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans.

According to Mark Inabinett of AL.com, the seven-time Super Bowl champion touched upon "learning and discussing what it takes to be your best."

Young declined to get into specifics about what Brady did and didn't say during arguably the most interesting football-related lunch meeting of the offseason.

"So I’m going to keep it to who was in that room, but I definitely took away a lot," Young continued. "Being able to talk to one of the greatest to ever do it is a huge honor and privilege. So I was very grateful for that."

Young began Monday beneath veteran Andy Dalton on the depth chart but reportedly took the majority of first-team practice reps as he prepares to become the team's starter. Quarterbacks coach Josh McCown said ahead of the weekend that the Panthers want to bring Young "along the right way," but it sounds like the 21-year-old is on track to becoming Carolina's QB1 well before the club opens the regular season at the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 10.
