Panthers clear more cap space by restructuring Matt Paradis' contract

The Carolina Panthers cleared nearly $20 million in cap space earlier this week by releasing several veteran players, including starting safety Tre Boston. They opened up even more on Sunday by restructuring the deal of another player.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Panthers converted a majority of center Matt Paradis' 2021 salary into a signing bonus. The move creates just under $4.7 million in cap space.

According to ESPN's David Newton, the Panthers are clearing cap space to make a run at Deshaun Watson in the event the Houston Texans make him available in trade discussions.

Carolina will be joined by several teams in its pursuit of Watson, including the Denver Broncos, who will reportedly make an offer for the three-time Pro Bowler if and when he becomes available. The Miami Dolphins are also expected to "be in the mix" for the three-time Pro Bowler.
