The Carolina Panthers are not tendering defensive back Myles Hartsfield, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. By not placing a tender on him, Hartsfield will become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins today at 4 p.m. EST.
This past season, Hartsfield appeared in 15 games and made 10 starts. He tallied 59 tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one QB hit. Hartsfield played multiple spots in the secondary, including nickel, free safety, strong safety, and even corner.
Hartsfield signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2020 out of Ole Miss. When he first got to Carolina, they had him splitting reps at running back and defensive back before eventually settling him in on the defensive side of the ball.
Carolina did, however, place a tender on fellow safety Sam Franklin Jr. earlier this week, allowing them to match any offer sheet that is made to him.
