Panthers QB P.J. Walker gets win in first NFL start

Despite throwing two interceptions in his first NFL start, Panthers quarterback P.J. Walker helped Carolina shut out the Detroit Lions 20-0 on Sunday.

Walker, an XFL standout, completed 24-of-34 passes for 258 yards and one touchdown. He wasn't fantastic by any means, but he did enough to help Carolina better their record in Teddy Bridgewater's absence.

The Lions were hideous on both sides of the ball. They couldn't get anything going on offense, and their defense, despite forcing two interceptions, couldn't do enough to keep Detroit in the game.

The Panthers, who are in a rebuilding phase, are looking pretty good despite a 4-7 record. They won without Bridgewater and running back Christian McCaffrey, which is a great sign for Matt Rhule's squad.

On the other hand, it appears Detroit might have to shake things up during the offseason and start a much-needed rebuild after what will end up being another hideous season under Matt Patricia.
