The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for an answer at defensive tackle with the news that Cam Heyward is likely headed to Injured Reserve. One option they can now eliminate is former lineman Chris Wormley, who has signed to the Carolina Panthers practice squad.

Wormley spent three seasons in Pittsburgh, playing 41 games, including 16 starts for the Steelers. He contributed 88 tackles and 8.5 sacks during his time in black and gold.

Wormley is a former third-round pick for the Baltimore Ravens before being traded to Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL last season, ending his year in Week 13. He appears to be cleared and ready to contribute if called upon in Carolina.

As for Pittsburgh, they'll utilize their depth along the defensive line to replace Heyward, but another name has emerged as an option. After years of calling for J.J. Watt to end up with the Steelers, it appears they may finally have the motivation to try and make the signing happen
