Sunday evening, the XFL announced that five players have received tryouts with NFL teams. Three of those players have been invited to Carolina.

WR Austin Proehl

Austin is the son of former Panthers wide receiver Ricky Proehl. After a solid career at the University of North Carolina, Proehl was drafted in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He was waived just before the start of the season and has since bounced around all over the league, joining the Bills (2018, 2021), Titans (2018), Rams (2018-19), 49ers (2021), Chargers (2021), and Giants (2022). Despite getting many opportunities, Proehl has yet to play in an NFL game.

This spring, he caught 25 receptions for 223 yards and a touchdown for the St. Louis BattleHawks.

C Dohnovan West

West played his college ball at Arizona State, where he earned second-team All-PAC 12 honors as a junior. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers last year but was cut just before the end of training camp. This spring, West played for the Vegas Vipers.

OT Derrick Kelly

Kelly has the most NFL experience of the three trying out having played in seven games, albeit just 57 snaps. Kelly appeared in six games with the New Orleans Saints in 2020 and in one game with the New York Giants the following season. He was a member of the San Antonio Brahmas.
