Though the Carolina Panthers took concerted steps forward to bring in quality-level pass-catchers, it still wasn't enough for some national outlets.

Bleacher Report recently ranked the nine worst wide receiver groups in the league and the Panthers ranked No. 9.

Ouch.

Here is how Bleacher Report characterized the Panthers' wide receiver room:

"Carolina's receiving core has clear upside, but we're in 'see it to believe it' territory for now," they write.

Though some may say the Panthers wide receivers have to prove themselves on the field, Carolina is already miles better offensively than it was a year ago.

The Panthers have veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen, who was a 1,000-yard pass-catcher during the 2023 season.

Carolina also has second-year, high upside, receiver Jonathan Mingo. The 22-year-old pass-catcher claimed 418 yards during his rookie season. He was more unproven than the Panthers expected. However, he did put together some quality performances, where he flashed the potential Carolina saw when the franchise drafted him.

Then there was the trade that infinitely improved the Panthers' wide receiver room: Landing Diontae Johnson.

Johnson is also a former 1,000-yard pass catcher. He was stuck in quarterback purgatory for a few years and Bryce Young could be his first real starting quarterback he has played with since 2021. That means all signs are pointing up for the youngster.

All in all, the Panthers' wide receiver room isn't nearly as bad as national outlets are making it out to be. Then there is still the NFL draft, where the Panthers plan to select a receiver as early as round two.
