The Kansas City Chiefs bolstered an already-lethal offense by bringing in Le’Veon Bell, and Patrick Mahomes is understandably hyped by the addition of the two-time First-Team All-Pro running back.

Bell arrives with the Chiefs with some considerable baggage given his history, not to mention concerns about productivity after a season-plus of play well below his standards with a New York Jets team that decided to cut him loose last week.

Despite the potential red flags, Mahomes is welcoming Bell to K.C. with open arms.

“Yeah, I think it’s going to help out a ton,” Mahomes said of the Bell signing on “The Drive” during his weekly appearance. “Obviously, Clyde (Edwards-Helaire) has been playing his tail off and doing a great job, Darrel as well. But adding a guy that’s that versatile, that’s really had a lot of success in this league and is hungry to come out there and prove the haters wrong… I’m excited for him to have that opportunity and be able to be another great weapon in this offense.”

Mahomes added Wednesday that Bell will have the opportunity to exploit mismatches given the Chiefs’ abundance of offensive talent.

Bell was not allowed to play Monday night against the Jets due to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols when it comes to newly signed players. According to reports, Bell will make his Chiefs debut in Week 7 in a divisional road matchup with the Denver Broncos.

Taking in Monday’s 26-17 win over the Buffalo Bills, Bell could scarcely contain his excitement about getting on the field with the Chiefs.

Given the opportunity to join the world champion Chiefs following a nightmarish run with the Jets, arguably the worst team in the NFL, Bell’s enthusiasm amid an escape from purgatory is understandable.
