Patrick Mahomes overtakes Tom Brady on list of top NFL merchandise sales

The king has been dethroned.

Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady no longer leads the NFL in highest-selling player products and merchandise.

Super Bowl LIV champion QB Patrick Mahomes now leads the league in player products and merchandise sales, according to an NFLPA release.

Here's the list of the Top 10 NFL player sales from March 1, 2019, to February 29, 2020:

  1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs QB
  2. Tom Brady, *New England Patriots QB
  3. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens QB
  4. Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys RB
  5. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns QB
  6. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers QB
  7. Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland Browns WR
  8. Khalil Mack, Chicago Bears OLB
  9. Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers QB
  10. George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers TE

It certainly looks like quarterbacks are the most popular among player merchandise, but Elliott, Beckham Jr., Mack and Kittle have done enough to boost themselves into the top 10.

What's really odd about this list is that the Browns have three players on it ... and the Browns have been disappointing for many years now. Last year, many thought the Browns were destined to have a solid playoff run, but that obviously didn't happen.

That Garoppolo and Kittle are on this list is warranted, with both gaining some steam around the league last season.

Another surprising thing with this list is that fans are still buying Rob Gronkowski merchandise even though he's been retired since 2018 — Gronkowski ranked 48th out of 50 players.
