Patrick Mahomes is impressed with how much Taylor Swift is learning about football. In an interview with Time magazine, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback touched on multiple topics including his friendship with Swift and her knowledge of football.

“Even when she’s talking about football, when she’s learning it, you can see her business mind putting it together,” Mahomes said. “It’s almost like she’s trying to become a coach. ‘Why can’t you try this, this, and this?’ She’s asking the right questions.”

Mahomes was introduced to Swift when the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Chicago Bears in the early stages of the 2023 season. Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce who is good friends with Mahomes. This also led to Swift becoming good friends with Mahomes’ wife Brittany.

“I’ve met a lot of famous people now in my life,” Mahomes said. “Taylor’s probably the most down-to-earth person that’s been on that stage for that long. …Even when she’s taking her downtime, she’s working on something. Shooting a music video or singing a song or writing a song. You can see it by how she talks.”

Patrick Mahomes on being a GOAT player

Swift got to see the Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl in February. It’s the third Super Bowl title for Mahomes, and he won the game by throwing a walk-off touchdown pass to wide receiver Mecole Hardman in overtime.

“I was running toward him, and he was sitting there staring at me…I’m like, ‘Dude, we just won the Super Bowl,’” Mahomes explained when talking about the play. “After the game, we were talking. He goes, ‘I blacked out. I had no idea what happened.’”

With Mahomes now having three Super Bowl titles, many are projecting that he will have the same career as Tom Brady. But to be a GOAT player, Mahomes believes he has to do a lot more in his career to be considered in the same category as Brady who won seven Super Bowls.

“You have to build a consistency of a career…You see that in any sport. I’ve had a great run,” Mahomes said. “I think I’ve done a great job so far. But it’s hard to take away from what Tom did for so long, what Peyton Manning did, or Aaron Rodgers. There are so many guys, they were at such a high level for such a long time. In order to be in that conversation, you have to do that on a year-to-year basis. You can’t take it for granted that you did it the year before…That’s something I’ll talk about when I’m done playing…Then people can make those decisions.”
