Patrick Mahomes is ready to make another run at the Super Bowl. Last season, many wondered whether the Chiefs could have a viable offense after Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins. The team proved the doubters wrong. This offseason has a new set of questions. Juju Smith-Schuster left in free agency and Mahomes says that second-year receiver Skyy Moore will be “called up more” in 2023.

Patrick Mahomes On Skyy Moore

Moore caught a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl and the team is hoping that this will be the first of many. Head coach Andy Reid is liking what he sees. “I think he’s taking a good jump,” Reid said, per The Athletic. “The quarterback trusts him.” Mahomes echoed that trust when asked about Moore. “He’s someone that’s going to be called upon more, kind of in that same role that probably JuJu was in,” Mahomes shared. “He can also go over the top and make plays happen.”

Second-Year Jump?

With how many rookies come in a perform well it is hard to remember that making the transition from college to NFL is not always easy. Some players need a couple of years to learn the offense, playbook, and NFL life. Moore did not have a great 2022. It wasn’t that he was bad. He simply didn’t get the opportunities needed to make plays. It seems like he will get many opportunities in 2023 and the hope is that he can make the most of them.

Patrick Mahomes is excited about Skyy Moore. Between him and Kadarius Toney, the wide receiver room is thin once again. However, Mahomes has proven that he can raise the floor of any group and that is something that cannot be doubted.
