NFL free agency is open for business this week and Patrick Peterson doesn't sound like he's going to be coming back to the Minnesota Vikings on a new contract.
Adam Schefter said on his podcast that Peterson "is looking for a new home this week," and Peterson didn't deny it during their enlightening conversation.
"Honestly, right now I'm in a great time in my life," Peterson said. "I'm very comfortable and happy, especially with the year that I had last year. I felt that I had a very productive year. Everybody said I was old, a little long in the tooth, that I couldn't do it anymore. But with the production that I had last year, it continues to give me confidence."
Where does he want to end up when all is said and done?
"A competitor. I'm playing for jewelry at this period in my career," Peterson said. "I want to be able to be with the team that's going to be in the position that's going to be in the playoffs. That's the first step. Every team is not promised a championship no matter how good the team is. I want to be on a team that can get in the playoffs first and foremost, and that's able to compete for a championship. At this moment, I'm looking for a team that can help provide jewelry."
Asked if there are any teams he'd like to play for, Peterson named the Bengals, Cowboys and Eagles.
"I really like what the Bengals have. They have a quarterback, they have a great establishment on the offensive side of the ball. I know Eli Apple is going to be an impending free agent coming up. I feel like I can come in there and help those guys," said Peterson. "You're going to need some quality cover guys that can kind of keep those guys in check."

"I like the Cowboys, I like what they have going on. I love (Treyvon) Diggs. I love what he brings to the table. I think he can use some guidance and some help along the way," he said. "Philly, I know they're going to have a couple guys that they may be letting go in a little bit. There's a couple teams out there that strike my interest."
Peterson, 32, thinks he's got at least two seasons left in his body.
"My durability has always been there," he said. "I know I can play two strong more seasons, and after that it'll kind of be up in the air."
