After losing heartbreakingly last week, the New England Patriots look to get back on track this week. On paper, this week’s matching against the Jets might look like an easy win, but that is not the case. Anytime a team plays inside their division, it will always be a challenge. Your opponent knows you a lot better, but the positive is, so do you. Unfortunately, this matchup does not hold that same statement as the New York Jets have a whole new coaching staff this year.

Know Your Enemy

Let’s get to know the New York Jets and what to expect come Sunday afternoon

Robert Saleh, a former defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers, was hired to become the 22nd head coach in franchise history this offseason. He brings a lot of energy and attitude to an organization that hasn’t had that kind of cachet since Rex Ryan was there. Last year was a disappointing season for Jets fans, and they expect an improvement in 2021. Through all their losing seasons, the Jets fan base has stayed loyal.

This offseason, the Jets drafted Zach Wilson in this year’s draft. Before playing in last week’s game in Carolina, Wilson told reporters after the game that was his first time attending an NFL game. Not exactly ideal for your rookie QB to not ever had experienced an NFL atmosphere. Of course, he played in college at BYU and knows what crowd noise is like, but nothing compares to what some NFL stadiums have in terms of noise. Wilson played overall well and gave his team a chance to win in the 4th quarter.

Injuries have already impacted this Jets team in 2021. Jamison Crowder spent time on the COVID list but was activated on Thursday. Corey Davis will have an expanded role regardless and could emerge as Zach Wilsons’ #1 target. He had five receptions in week one and looks to improve on his connection with his rookie QB. Also, offensive lineman Mekhi Becton was placed on IR after an ugly injury in last week’s loss to Carolina. The Patriots will have to take advantage of all these injuries and get back on track and win this weekend!

Be sure to tune into the game this Sunday at 1 PM ET on CBS!
