Patriots HC Bill Belichick's response to MLB question won't make Red Sox fans happy

While not all members of "Red Sox Nation" are also fans of the Pats, with the high number of crossover fans of both northeast franchises, there are likely lots of Red Sox followers waking up Monday morning shaking their heads at the comments from the 70-year-old.

Jeter's playing career spanned 20 seasons from 1995 through 2014 and he spent every one of them with the Yankees (Boston's longtime biggest rival). Belichick meanwhile, began his head coaching career in 1991 and has been at the helm of the Patriots since the 2000 campaign.

New England has reached nine Super Bowls during Belichick's reign, winning six of them. After going 86 years without a World Series title, the Red Sox finally exorcised their demons by breaking the "Curse of the Bambino" and coming back from a 3-0 hole in the ALCS to defeat Jeter's Yankees in 2004 and then winning the championship over the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Red Sox went on to win the World Series in 2007 and 2013 during the latter portion of "Mr. November's" career and tacked on a title in 2018 for good measure. While Jeter's Yankees dominated the late-90s and early 2000s part of the rivalry with Boston -- winning the World Series in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000 -- "The Captain" earned one final ring in 2009, but the franchise hasn't been back to the final round since.
