Patriots OT seems to take shot at organization after QB is plucked off practice squad

The Baltimore Ravens snatched quarterback Malik Cunningham off New England's practice squad on Tuesday, and Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown took an apparent shot at his team on social media.

"Go flourish where your talent is respected," wrote Brown on social media in a caption of a picture of Cunningham in his old Patriots jersey.

Cunningham showed flashes during the summer of being an intriguing quarterback prospect. In Week 1 of the preseason against the Texans, he was 3-of-4 passing for 19 yards while adding five carries for 34 yards and a touchdown, the team's only one in a 20-9 loss.

With New England having nothing to play for the rest of the season - and quarterbacks Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe clearly not being the answer - it was strange that the Patriots didn't take a serious look at Cunningham as their starter for the rest of the season.

The former Louisville quarterback played from 2018-22 for the Cardinals. He appeared in 56 games and completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 9,664 yards (8.7 yards per attempt), 70 touchdowns and 29 interceptions while adding 619 carries for 3,182 yards and another 50 touchdowns.

The Patriots rank last in scoring offense (13 points per game) and 28th in total offense (291.4 yards per game), including 25th passing (189.5 yards per game). Jones and Zappe have combined to throw 15 interceptions, the third-most in the league.

Brown's comment on social media suggests he believes the Patriots didn't appreciate what they had in Cunningham.
